Critical M.A.S.S. - Our Fitness Philosophy

Critical MASS is our comprehensive fitness philosophy, designed to help improve mobility, agility, stability and strength as part of a healthy lifestyle as we age. As part of our philosophy, we focus on exercises that improve balance, coordination, overall strength and help reduce risk of injury and improve posture.  By focusing on mobility, agility, stability and strength, Critical M.A.S.S. helps individuals maintain and even increase their quality of life as they age.

Mobility

Mobility is an important part of daily life and can help to improve overall quality of life., can help to increase physical and mental wellbeing, reduce fatigue, and improve safety in everyday activities. It can also help to reduce the risk of falls and injuries, and improve physical and cognitive functioning. Improved mobility can also help to reduce the risk of chronic conditions such as heart disease, stroke, and diabetes. 

Agility

Improved agility can help you move faster and more efficiently, improve your balance and coordination, and help prevent injury.  Improved agility can also help you become more confident in your athletic ability and help you stay focused on achieving your goals. Improved agility can also help you become more efficient in your daily activities, allowing you to do more in less time.

Stability

Stability is the ability to maintain balance and control of the body and its movements. Having good stability can improve balance, coordination, agility, and even strength. For those looking to maintain good health, stability can help to improve posture, reduce lower back pain, and reduce stress, while increasing mobility as well as prevent falls and other injuries, making it an important factor in maintaining overall health and wellness. 

Strength

Maintaining and/or improving strength has many benefits, including increased muscle and bone strength, improved posture, increased metabolism, and improved balance and coordination. Strength training can also help reduce the risk of injury, reduce stress and anxiety, and even improve mental health.  Strength training is an important part of creating a strong, healthy body.

Active Aging

 Our "Active Aging" program is a complimentary initiative for women of color aged 40 and above. It is designed to enhance the physical, mental, and social well-being of participants through customized fitness activities. The goal of Active Aging is to decrease the incidence of chronic diseases and disabilities within the BIPOC community
